Biography:
Katie has coached high school and club volleyball for over 20 years. In her first season at West Ashley, the Wildcats were .500 and placed third in the region. She expects this team to continue improving and compete for a top region spot and to be fierce contenders in the state tournament.
She started coaching in 2001 in Washington state. In 2010, she assisted at her alma mater, Capital High School in Olympia, WA where the team placed 5th at State. In 2011, she accepted an associate head coaching job at Black Hills High School in Tumwater, WA where the team placed 7th at state. She was selected as an All-State 2A volleyball coach in 2012.
She moved to Shreveport, Louisiana in 2013 and assisted Centenary College for one season. In 2014, she founded the Northwood High School Volleyball Program. By 2017, her team placed second in districts and appeared in a first ever state playoff. In that time, she coached athletes who received three first team all-district, Freshman of the Year, and two second team all-district honors.
In 2014 she also co-founded TC Elite Volleyball Club. Starting with two competitive teams, the club tripled in size by 2018. Throughout the years, its teams placed in the top of the bronze and silver divisions. To cap off the final season with Katie at the helm, the 18U team won its first tournament in the gold division in Dallas, TX in 2018.
During the summer of 2017, she coached an American volleyball team internationally in London, Paris, and Barcelona. The highlight of the trip was playing in the former Olympic Gym in Barcelona and beating the Spaniards on their home court!
